Objectives:

1. To understand the concept of heat and its unit.

2. To learn about temperature and its unit.

3. To comprehend the difference between heat and temperature.

4. To understand the effects of heat, including increase in temperature, change in state, and thermal expansion.

5. To learn about the modes of transfer of heat.


Procedure:

*I. Introduction (10 minutes)*

1. Introduce the topic of heat and its importance in our daily lives.

2. Ask students about their experiences with heat.


II. Heat and Its Unit

1. Define heat and its unit (joule).

2. Explain the concept of heat transfer.


III. Temperature and Its Unit

1. Define temperature and its unis

2. Explain the concept of temperature measurement.

IV. Difference Between Heat and Temperature

1. Explain the difference between heat and temperature.

2. Use examples to illustrate the difference.


V. Effects of Heat 

1. Explain the effects of heat, including:

    1. Increase in temperature

    2. Change in state (solid, liquid, gas)

    3. Thermal expansion

2. Use diagrams and examples to illustrate each effect.


VI. Modes of Transfer of Heat 

1. Explain the three modes of heat transfer:

    1. Conduction

    2. Convection

    3. Radiation

2. Use examples to illustrate each mode.


Activities:

Activity 1: Heat Transfer Experiment

1. Conduct an experiment to demonstrate heat transfer through conduction, convection, and radiation.

2. Use a thermometer, heat source, and various materials to conduct the experiment.


Activity 2: Thermo Flake

1. Use a thermo flake to demonstrate the effect of heat on temperature.

2. Ask students to observe and record the changes in temperature.


Activity 3: Design a Heat Insulator

1. Ask students to design and create a heat insulator using various materials.

2. Test the insulator and record the results.
